Somei walked through the gardens, enjoying the beauty and personally glad that the progress in restoring what for him was the heart of this place, Eagle Point. For once his entourage of children were not present, back in the chambers getting taken care of by their nanny-guard. Because after long debate, people had convinced him that it might be a good idea, since he couldn't take them everywhere.

eventually he smelled the familiar scent of lion and followed it to a very woeful looking Gambit sitting on the stone wall with a flower. Somei waved at his favorite person in Eagle Point besides his children and leaped with ease to stand on the wall beside the lion. "Hi kiddo, feel like unloading your sorrows on this old man? by the way, that girl you picked up, very pretty. Didn't take well to my friendliness, though. Strong, fast-though she took me by surprise…good thing she likes kids, right?” he laughed and sat down beside Gambit. “Joking aside, you alright?”

“Hah! For one, your little fireball is more in your age range, not mine. Two, I’ve tried getting with someone, another girl of my species. Inaba, the little tramp, almost bit her ear off. There will be no second date until I can boot him off on his own” Somei also declined mentioning that Red had kicked him in the chest with enough force to knock him back a few steps. That would be awkward to explain. The wolf-man tilted his head slightly and touched Gambit on the shoulder. “It’s going to get easier, kid. Trust me” In his part, Somei was actually impressed that he had a father son relationship with the man when he was taking the leader place of Gambit’s past flame.

“Right, right. You’re not claiming the girl you found as your responsibility. She’s just a human, she’ll need someone to look after her. They don’t know their own limits. And you are a child, kiddo. Forever to me you are a child” he laughed and nudged Gambit with his shoulder, grinning. Somei’s eyes darkened slightly and he looked away. Yes, he still had a picture of his mate. It was by the bed where he could look at it when he went to sleep or woke up. Where his pups could look at her whenever they wanted, trying to remember the woman who had held them and sang to them for the short time before she was killed. “They are in different paths than ours, Gambit. Our paths crossed for a short, blissful time before she had to go on her own journey again. Catherine too. That is the idea I was raised with. That helps me deal with her loss” Somei brushed shoulders in silent need for the friendly touch, more because he was a dog and constant friendly touches were their way of knowing things were alright, than any real sorrow.

"Just start by acting, I don't think many people have the nose to tell when you're faking or not, it'll eventually become real, hopefully"

“Hey, who’s older here, baby boy? Stop messing with continuity!” He wasn’t sure what he was saying, but it sounded cool. He threw off his jacket and jumped to the ground, tail wagging furiously as he fell into a familiar stance for fighting, fists up and ears back, panting in excitement. “Let’s go, lion boy!”

He dodged the paw and lunged, laughing. “Is that how to speak to your elders? Remember, being old gives me skill you have not yet gained. I’m wise and you’re a toddling babe yet!” while Somei may not have had the advantage of being able to shift into a full wolf, he was able to keep the strength of one, which was useful. The wolf-man leaped onto Gambit’s back and bit the lion’s neck, though not hard and not in a death bite.

the dog-man hung on tenaciously, fingers digging into Gambit's back and teeth dug resolutely into the neck as Gambit bucked. The other man might have been young, but Somei was trained for this, trained to capture and incapacitate and take down. He hung on as his body was whipped about and waited for Gambit to wear himself out.
